LAST HOTEL MEETING SPACES NEAR FIRA GRAN VIA STILL AVAILABLE! BOOK NOW -
Grand Hotel Central stands right in the middle of Via Laietana, in front of the Gothic neighborhood, and beside the Santa Caterina Market with its soaring, undulated roof –masterpiece of the architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue. The hotel was built as residency for the former president of the Catalonian government, Francesc Cambó, and was transformed into a hotel by his grandson, Pau Guardans i Cambó.
The establishment evokes the splendor of Barcelonan society in the 1920s, bourgeois, happy and very European. While so little remains of that era, this hotel unconditionally safeguards a few singular niches, such as the neoclassic stairway landing and the poised tall ceilings.
